Some of our assistants/technicians have gone on to become Veterinarians.

Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital maintains an ongoing interest in interviewing qualified, motivated individuals who have a penchant for expanding their knowledge and pushing their capabilities to the limit.

The following employment opportunities are periodically available at the Hospital:

  • Receptionist/Administrative Assistant (FT/PT)
      • Description: Coordinates various administrative functions of the Hospital including client appointment scheduling, client queries, client invoicing, general correspondence, basic accounting, computer operation. Will train.

      • Qualifications: Computer literate (Word/Excel); detail oriented; communication skills; ability to multi-task; prior medical experience a plus. Ownership of multiple pets helpful. Community college attendance recommended. Should reside within 10 miles of Hospital.

         

  • Veterinary Assistant (FT/PT)

      • Description: Assists veterinarians with examination, treatment, and surgical procedures of animals; fills prescriptions; interfaces with clients/patients; restrains patients when necessary; cares for hospitalized animals; performs miscellaneous hospital chores. Will train.

      • Qualifications: Must be comfortable with and capable of handling and restraining unfamiliar dogs and cats. Computer literate (Word/Excel); communication skills; detail oriented; ability to multi-task; prior medical experience a plus. Ownership of multiple pets helpful. Community college attendance recommended. Should reside within 10 miles of Hospital.

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (FT/PT)

      • Description: Under direction of a veterinarian, performs duties and accepts responsibilities in accordance with LVT regulations.

      • Qualifications: Current Virginia license as LVT.

 

  • Veterinarian (FT)

      • Description: Performs such duties and accepts such responsibilities as delegated by Hospital's director of veterinary medicine in accordance with regulations of the Virginia State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

      • Qualifications: Current Virginia license as Veterinarian. Graduation from veterinary school accredited by the AVMA COE. A minimum of three years experience as a veterinarian concentrating on companion animal internal medicine and/or surgery. Ability to diagnose and treat complex companion animal medical conditions. Desire to interface with clients devoted to their animals and who expect to receive nothing but the best health care available. Willingness to accept after-hours telecom rotations to consult with clients whose animals may have emergency medical conditions. Commitment to continually advance capabilities and skills as a general practitioner of veterinary medicine. Philosophy of providing animal health care focused on the needs of the patient. Dedication to veterinary medical excellence.
